Ethique: Our Story and Mission

Brianne West, the CEO and Founder of Ethique, started the company in her kitchen back in 2012. Her initial experiments with solid shampoo bars have now blossomed into a diverse range of over 100 conscious and concentrated haircare, skincare, and body care products.

At Ethique, our mission is to revolutionize the cosmetics industry and regenerate our planet through sustainable business practices. We are on a mission to help rid the world of single-use plastic bottles, and this is just one aspect of our larger goal.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

All of Ethique's products are 100% plastic-free, certified vegan, cruelty-free, and palm oil-free. Additionally, our packaging is also 100% plastic-free, with recyclable and home-compostable options available.

As of 2021, our efforts have saved over 20 million single-use plastic bottles from being made or disposed of in landfills around the world. We have also saved over 3 million gallons of water from being wasted and have planted more than 350,000 trees. This is just the beginning of our journey towards a more sustainable future.

Compact by Design

To further reduce our environmental impact, we have created the "Compact by Design" initiative. This program identifies products that, while not necessarily looking different, have a more efficient design. By removing excess air and water, our products require less packaging and become more efficient to ship. These small differences in product size and weight lead to significant carbon emission reductions.

Product Spotlight: Curl Defining Shampoo Bar

One of our many Compact by Design products is the Curl Defining Shampoo Bar. This bar is formulated to nourish and define your curls, coils, and waves, without drying out your hair. Infused with shea butter, betaine (from sugar beets), and cocoa butter, this bar helps to soften your hair and enhance your natural curl pattern.

Each Curl Defining Shampoo Bar lasts for at least 80 washes, which is equivalent to three bottles of liquid shampoo. To use, simply stroke the bar down your wet hair, and it will lather up beautifully. The packaging is recyclable and home-compostable, making it an eco-friendly choice.
